VIc Cook (L. V. Cook) News

Hello World,

I will be posting new music for 2020!  Starting on February 1, 2020, I tentatively plan to post one new feature song on the first day of each month with a brief discussion of the song and the mix.

Also coming for 2020, I have a new menu item and page on my site named "TECHTALK" where I provide my personal experiences, research and thoughts on hardware and software for the personal home project studio.  While I am not a professional recording engineer, I have been a home recording hobbyist for more than 30 years.  The options available for home recording today are amazing and overwhelming.  In fact, there is so much to keep up with, it has been a serious distraction for my songwriting.  My evolution through the technology learning curve has been more about the journey than the destination.  I find many of my musician friends want to avoid the technology aspects of music and recording altogether.  With that in mind, I want to share my thoughts on the modest hardware and software tools that have made a difference for me.  My goal is to provide focused information that helps you to set up or improve your own personal singer-songwriter studio in the most cost-effective way. Stay tuned for new content beginning February 1.

Roads Water and Orange

There are places that scatter in dust and faint echoes of recollection.  There are other places that loom large, visiting in a rain of dreams, where lighthouse flickers lead to new destinations and gifts.  These are the paths that inhabit my new concept album "Roads, Water and Orange".

"Roads, Water and Orange" explores the journeys of life (the roads), their tribulations (the water), and the realization of love along the way (the orange).  This album offers an unusual diversity of styles and sounds, from acoustic rock to bossa nova, songs that are both different and together, strung like diamonds along a live wire of ups, downs, and in-betweens.  "Roads, Water and Orange" is a journey of souls searching for their Orangeland.  I am sure we will meet again somewhere along the way...
